Presentation guidelines

It is possible to give an oral presentation or exhibit a poster.
When preparing for your presentation or poster, please consider the following guidelines.

Oral Presentations
In order to go beyond scientific excellence, the sessions follow a specific logic, giving short time for Q&A after each presentation, followed by a discussion block that prepares the distilling of the scientific key messages for the multi-stakeholder panel on Wednesday, 19 September 2018.

Details:

Please prepare the presentation in Widescreen format: 16:9. Please prepare your presentation in PowerPoint or PDF format. Avoid complex slides with a lot of text, which require long reading time. 

Time for presentation:
–    Presentation: 12 Minutes
–    Q&A after each presentation: 3 Minutes
–    Discussion at end of session:15/20 Minutes

The session chair will notify speakers how much time they have left.

At the end of the presentation, please add to your answers to the following questions:

1. What is the focus of your research and why is it important for climate, bioeconomy or people?
2. Did your research identify key challenges (threats or risks)
to maintain the critical values of boreal and mountain ecosystems?
3. What would be your suggestion to address these challenges?

which you already submitted previously together with your abstract.

Please name your presentation “Session ID_Name_ID of presenter”, e.g. “C1_Max Mustermann_1234”.

Please send your presentation by email to ibfra18@iiasa.ac.at latest by 10 September 2018. And bring your presentation on a flash-drive as a back-up to the conference. There is no possibility to use your own computer or memory stick directly for the presentation.

Please arrive at your session 15 minutes prior to the published start time of the session. Before the start of your session make yourself known to your session Chair and indicate how you would like to be introduced.

Poster
IBFRA18 will provide a permanent exhibition and networking area for scientific posters. The posters will be presented to participants during all coffee breaks and in a dedicated two-hour market space and open poster session on Wednesday, 19 September 2018. During this time we ask you to please stay at your poster for questions and discussions.
All submitted posters are automatically enrolled in the election for the poster award. Posters will be evaluated for their scientific quality, but also and equally relevant for their way of communicating complex scientific findings to a broader audience. There will be 3 posters awarded by the poster committee. The selected poster authors will have the chance to present their work in an oral talk in front of the entire IBFRA18 plenary on Thursday, 20 September 2018.

The forests journal by MDPI – a pioneer in scholarly open access publishing since 1996, based in Basel, Switzerland – generously sponsors the following poster awards:
–    1st prize: 500 EUR and free publication in the forests special issue—*1 winner*
–    2nd prize: 300 EUR and free publication in the forests special issue—*1 winner*
–    3rd prize: free publication in the forests special issue—*1 winner*

Technical guidelines:
Approved posters are to be printed beforehand at the participants cost and displayed at the venue during the entire conference period. Size restrictions for the posters are maximum A0 (841×1189 – vertical) and minimum is A1 (594×841 vertical). At the top of your poster please indicate title of the presentation and its authors and institutions.
The posters will be mounted and removed by the presenters. Your poster should be mounted as soon as you arrive at the conference venue on Monday, 17 September 2018. Posters will be arranged according to themes and sessions, therefore, your poster title and authors name will be signed on the boards to help you find the right board.

Please remove your poster on Thursday 20 September 2018 in the second coffee break (3 to 3:30 pm). The organizers will dispose of all posters left in the poster area after the conference.

Info Desk
Registration and Info Desk will be situated in the entrance of the Conference Center. They will be open on Monday from 8 am – 6 pm, on Tuesday from 8 am –12:30 pm, on Wednesday from 8 am – 7 pm and Thursday from 8 am – 16 pm.
